# Upcoming changes to the UK Sanctions Lists

Hi everyone, a quick update regarding our UK Sanctions lists:

From Jan 28, the [UK Sanctions List (UKSL)](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-uk-sanctions-list?_hsenc=p2ANqtz-85OlNumkCmyeNk6GITBLE_dR8Y8RsLHa3FeFu9xEjl9oeQ8zc7QMx5i4NfxmPYoorpuyH0) will become the single official UK designations source. The existing [HMT/OFSI Consolidated List](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/financial-sanctions-consolidated-list-of-targets?_hsenc=p2ANqtz-85OlNumkCmyeNk6GITBLE_dR8Y8RsLHa3FeFu9xEjl9oeQ8zc7QMx5i4NfxmPYoorpuyH0) will no longer be updated.

We’ll merge UK sanctions coverage into a single dataset, ingesting both XML & CSV versions of the data for redundancy. The HMT/OFSI dataset will be deprecated on **Jan 28, 2026** (entities only on that list will stop receiving the sanction topic), while historic OFSI Group IDs will be kept for **6 months** for reconciliation. New designations will use the UKSL Unique ID.

❗ We recommend replacing all dataset references to **[gb\_hmt\_sanctions](https://www.opensanctions.org/datasets/gb_hmt_sanctions/ "gb\_hmt\_sanctions")** with **[gb\_fcdo\_sanctions](https://www.opensanctions.org/datasets/gb_fcdo_sanctions/ "gb\_fcdo\_sanctions")** no later than **January 28th**.
